Why Ecommerce Analytics Are Critical

Data-driven decisions separate growing stores from stagnant ones. Proper analytics help you:

  • Track ROAS across all marketing channels
  • Understand customer LTV and cohort behavior
  • Attribute revenue to the right touchpoints
  • Identify bottlenecks in the conversion funnel
  • Forecast inventory and cash flow needs

What gets measured gets managed. The right analytics stack turns guesswork into predictable growth.

Attribution Models Explained

These are model concepts, not a list of current GA4 settings. GA4 removed first-click, linear, time-decay and position-based models in November 2023. An attribution report allocates credit under its assumptions; it does not by itself prove incremental sales.

Last Click

Credits the final touchpoint before purchase. Simple but undervalues top-of-funnel.

First Click

Credits the first touchpoint. Good for awareness campaigns but ignores nurture.

Linear

Equal credit to observed touchpoints, regardless of their actual influence. Missing touchpoints can change the result.

Time Decay

More credit to recent touches. Good for short sales cycles.

Data-Driven Attribution

Uses observed paths and an algorithm to allocate credit. Multi-touch is a broader category, not a synonym. Results depend on available data and model assumptions; no model is universally the most accurate.
